Summary About the holy Quran:
Al-Quran (Quran) is the holy book of Islam. The words of Almighty Allah have been compiled in it. These words were gradually revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for a long period of twenty-three years after the attainment of Nubuwat.
The complete Quran consists of 30 sections, 114 surahs (chapters), 7 manzils (stops), 16 Sijdas (prostrations), and 6,666 Ayats (verses) (there is some disagreement about the number of verses).
Some of the surahs were revealed in Makkah and some in Medina. Some Surahs were revealed in Makkah, but some of its verses were revealed in Madinah. Similarly, some verses of some Surahs revealed in Medina were revealed in Makkah. Again, verses of some Surahs have been revealed outside Mecca and Medina. The Surahs revealed in Makkah before the Hijrah are known as Makki and the Surahs revealed after the Hijrah are known as Madani. The Makki Surahs focus on the existence of God, oneness, the truthfulness of the Qur’an, resurrection, resurrection, punishment, and retribution for sins, heaven, and hell, moral teachings, etc. On the other hand, the Madani Surahs mention religious rules, various rules, and regulations of the Shari’ah and solutions to problems.
The Qur’an was not compiled as a complete book before the demise of the Prophet (peace be upon him), because the process of revelation of the Qur’an continued till his demise. The incarnations were then inscribed on leather, tree bark, stone, broad bone fragments, etc.

As many Hafiz was martyred in the battle of Yamama (633 AD), Hazrat Umar (RA) became concerned about the proper preservation of the Quran, and it was at his suggestion that the Caliph Abu Bakr (RA) arranged for the fragmentation of the Quran.

After the death of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), a copy of the Qur’an was preserved in the possession of the Caliph Hadrat ‘Umar. The third caliph, Hazrat Uthman (RA), made a number of copies of the Qur’an and sent them to different parts of the Muslim world. For this reason, Hazrat Usman (RA) is called the compiler of Al-Quran (Jami’ul-Quran).
Among the many names in the Quran, the four special ones are Al-Quran, Al-Furqan, Al-Kitab, and Az-Zikra. The name ‘Al-Quran’ means whatever is read. It is a collection of many verses and suras. It is pertinent to note that the first word of the first verse of the Qur’an is ‘Iqra’-reader.
The language and style of expression of the Qur’an differs from that of contemporary Arabic literature. On the one hand, there is the sweetness of poetry, on the other hand, there is the smooth-flowing speed and seriousness of prose. In addition, the verses of the Qur’an are usually found to be similar and the similarities of the verses revealed at one time are of the same nature. Another feature of the Qur’anic style of writing is its analogy.
The narration of historical events is a significant aspect of the Qur’an. In these narrations, the contradiction between truth and falsehood and the conflict between the followers of Allah and the followers of Satan have been described as advice for the guidance of mankind. It highlights the basics of religious education and ideology. Besides, various aspects of knowledge and science have been highlighted in the Qur’an.
Allah has sent many prophets and messengers to the world for the guidance and advice of mankind. The incidents of some of them have been narrated in the Qur’an. The story of Adam (peace be upon him) is first narrated in the Qur’an. He was the first man and the first prophet in the world. The beginning of this phenomenon is due to the conversation between the great God and the angels about the creation of man, the disobedience of God’s command by Satan, etc. Besides, the Prophets and Messengers have been narrated from Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The first interpreter of the Qur’an was the Prophet himself. He used to explain that part of the Qur’an whenever it was revealed. Later, Islamic thinkers wrote commentaries on the Qur’an in the light of their own knowledge and talents.
